Alumni UK Malaysia Challenge Fund 2023 – Applications open

The British Council in Malaysia is delighted to invite all UK alumni in Malaysia to apply for the Alumni UK Challenge Fund 2023. The Challenge Fund is designed to engage alumni in championing Alumni UK, a new and valuable global network for people around the world who hold a UK degree.

Overview on Alumni UK Symposium 2023 – Bridging Opportunities

The inaugural Alumni UK Symposium is an exclusive one-day event for all UK alumni in Malaysia to:

  • share cultural, economic, developmental and organisational insights that impact our world today
  • build greater connectivity through professional networking and knowledge sharing.

The symposium will offer UK alumni with relevant professional development and the opportunity to participate in important conversations that shape our world.

Date of the Alumni UK Symposium

The symposium will be held on 25 February 2023 at M Resort and Hotel Kuala Lumpur and will launch British Council Malaysia’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

About the Alumni UK Malaysia Challenge Fund 2023

In conjunction with the Alumni UK Symposium, the British Council in Malaysia is delighted to invite all UK alumni in Malaysia to apply for the Alumni UK Challenge Fund 2023.

The Challenge Fund is designed to engage alumni in championing Alumni UK, a new and valuable global network for people around the world who hold a UK degree.

Five successful applicants will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and solutions for the development of a sustainable Alumni UK network in Malaysia before panel of judges drawn from across the education, communication and corporate sectors. These finalists will participate in the 'Challenge Fund Pitch' which will take place on Saturday, 25 February 2023. 

The winner of the Alumni UK Malaysia Challenge Fund will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Alumni UK Symposium 2023 at M Resort and Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Saturday 25 February 2023.

An award of RM50,000 will be allocated to enable the implementation of their winning idea. The five finalists will each receive a token award of RM2,000.

Applying for the Challenge Fund

Applicants will be asked to consider innovative solutions for a sustainable network to enable UK alumni in Malaysia to:

  • stay connected
  • boost their professional and social networks
  • create opportunities that enable them to excel in their lives and professions.

The call for Challenge Fund proposals is now open and the application form and guidelines are available below. 

The submission of ideas must be made on the application form. An individual or group submission from public institutions and organisations, charities, foundations and non-profit organisations will be accepted*. Private sector submissions are only considered if the objectives and activities are clearly articulated for non-profit purposes.

*Individual applicants must be UK graduates and 80 per cent of individuals in group or organisational submissions must be UK graduates.
