The British Council East Asia Education Week, held from 26-29 February 2024 in Malaysia, marked the conclusion of the British Council's 75th anniversary celebrations in Malaysia and the commencement of its 90th anniversary. This four-day event featured key initiatives aimed at enhancing higher education collaboration and engagement between the UK and East Asia.
The event successfully brought together 62 UK universities and their joint ventures, alongside over 40 universities from the region, to support the initiatives. Key UK partners such as FCDO, UKVI, DBT, BUILA, UUKI, and QAA participated, along with senior policymakers from 6 East Asian countries and territories, regional partners, influential guest speakers, and media representatives from Malaysia and the UK.
The East Asia Education Week played a pivotal role in delivering outcomes for global programmes related to higher education, fostering sustainable partnerships, and enhancing the quality of international education strategies. Through its diverse and impactful activities, the event set the stage for continued collaboration and excellence in higher education between the UK and East Asia.
