Unlocking the Potential of Research Translation in Malaysia
Despite various policies implemented by the Malaysian government and its agencies to encourage research translation into societal benefits and policy improvements, challenges remain.
To gain deeper insights into the evolving research translation landscape, the British Council and the UEA Consulting Ltd. (UEAC) have partnered on a comparative scoping project that examines research translation ecosystems in two countries: Malaysia and Indonesia. This initiative highlights the growing significance of applying research to practical challenges, identifying opportunities, barriers, and best practices. The findings will inform strategic recommendations to strengthen Malaysia’s capacity in translational research.
Presentation of findings
On 14 March 2025, the British Council and UEA Consulting Ltd hosted a webinar to present the first Research Translation model and baseline study on Research Translation activities in Malaysia, introducing a methodology to track the social value of these research activities in the four major ISPF themes in accordance with the British government’s guidelines. Attendees were provided with practical recommendations to strengthen the social value of their research and for effective application of research findings across public policy, organisational systems, and commercialisation.
