Wei-Ling Contemporary presents Adam Chodzko's 'but as we looked it suddenly began to change': An innovative and collaborative project exploring the structures of Dreams

Acclaimed British artist Adam Chodzko presents 'but as we looked it suddenly began to change', a visionary exhibition featuring his selected recent and new works. Hosted by Wei-Ling Contemporary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the exhibition showcases an immersive and experimental exploration of the structures of dreams, their visuality, and fluid ambiguities of time and place.

Chodzko's project is an attempt to embody the nocturnal consciousness we all activate during sleep, using diverse and experimental methods to understand this subject. His interest in exploring this topic in Malaysia comes from his research into the cultural practices of the Senoi people, one of Malaysia's indigenous Orang Asli communities, who are renowned for their exceptional relationship with the dream state. Through this project, Chodzko aims to bridge the cultural gap and provide a collaborative and immersive visual experience that utilises the networking and therapeutic potential of dreaming.

The exhibition 'but as we looked it suddenly began to change' also serves as a platform for emotional healing and personal growth by promoting collaboration and providing a singular visual encounter. The audience is invited to engage with the works on various levels, whether through close observation or critical contemplation.

This project will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to visually animate descriptions of dreams from the British community. Chodzko's avant-garde method of investigating dreams allows the audience to discuss and reflect on their nocturnal subconscious. Each ethereal element of the exhibition showcases the vast amount of time, craftsmanship, and conceptual rigour that Chodzko puts into his execution, providing a unique visual experience that aims to inspire and promote emotional growth.
