About the Programme
The British Council is delighted to be the strategic creative education partner for Prudential Malaysian Eye, designing and delivering a programme that will engage secondary school and higher education students through creative education.
Prudential Malaysian Eye is a contemporary art project, curated by Parallel Contemporary Art and the Saatchi Gallery, and featuring a unique and exciting collection of artworks from emerging Malaysian artists. The associated creative education programme uses the UK’s extensive experience in the field of creative education to provide a long term legacy, promoting creativity through the medium of art and English.
CREATIVE EDUCATION ART COMPETITION 2014 - "My Neighbourhood"
"Are you inspired by your neighbourhood?" This was the question we posed to secondary school students nationwide under our Creative Education Art Competition held in October 2014. The competition, ran in two form categories, was conducted in collaboration with the Education Ministry. Its prize-giving ceremony was held on 27 February 2015 with attendance by representatives from the Education Ministry and Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad.

STUDENT ARTIST FORUMS:
117 students and tutors attended the Artist Forums, which took place over 5 days in April. The Forums were well supported by 10 of the artists whose work was exhibited at Malaysian Eye. Students enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the artists and share ideas and stories about their artistic journey.
TEACHER CREATIVITY WORKSHOP
The programme, drawing on the UK's extensive expertise in creative education, will also use selected age-appropriate artworks from the exhibition, and act as a catalyst for the engagement of secondary school and higher education students. We aim to promote creativity through the medium of art and English.
Workshops will train teachers in the use of free resource packs, designed to generate responses from pupils. Their scope is in line with recent advances in the curriculum: 21st century skills, rich language and creative thinking.
The programme will provide a range of different creative learning experiences and will include teacher resource packs, linked to the curriculum, to complement the teacher creativity workshops. These will be promoted through the British Council's established digital arts and education networks.
Workshops are co-sponsored by the British Council and Prudential, working in a secondary or higher education context. The workshops have now been concluded. For more information and future workshop information, please keep checking back on our website.
